College of Healing Values: the autonomy of the individual to tread their own path

It is the role of College of Healing (COH) training to support each person in understanding their own healing process and journey. One of the strengths of the COH training is to respect that each person needs to do their own healing journey in a way and at a pace that is appropriate for them. We encourage people to seek balance and harmony in their lives in ways that make sense to them according to their own world view. There is not one way – there are many ways. We can take the long road or the short road to the destination of our choice.

COH training is based on a framework of universal principles that underpin how the mind-body-spirit system works. Once we understand what those principles are, we have freedom of choice over whether we want to use them to inform our decisions, or not. Obviously, as practitioners, we create the best environment for our clients to experience healing. As individuals, our own healing journey may be complex and challenging.

Each of us is slightly different to anyone else. We all learn differently. We experience different energetic outcomes and challenges, and we deal with them differently. When you start to become aware of how you sense the energy around you and the impact it has on you, you begin to build your own encyclopedia of how energy flows through you, between us and around us.

The choices we make move us towards or away from different qualities of energy. The College of Healing Training gives you the freedom to have the autonomy over your own process. We may not like or agree with the choices that our friends and loved ones make, and we often want to give advice to make their journey easier. It is difficult to stand by the ones we love and watch them make choices that bring more chaos into their lives. Their choices are not ours to make. The College of Healing training helps people to assess the energetic outcomes of their choices so that people that can make more nourishing.

It is exciting to find your own path. With autonomy comes responsibility. It is the responsibility of each individual to understand how far out of balance they can go without losing their ability to get back into balance. It’s OK to go out of balance as long as you can hold the balance.

One of the great joys of the COH training is that people are encouraged and trusted to find their own path to healing. We respect the autonomy of each person to go at their own pace in their own way. Even when we are operating with autonomy, there are still universal truths that we need to be aware of, and the College Trainings can give us guidance of how to work with energy to create the solution for the highest good of all.

Everyone has a part to play in the process of empowering self and other. We give others the freedom to be themselves by not judging them. We have to give ourselves the freedom to be ourselves by not judging ourselves. This can be even harder than not judging others. Autonomy brings power. With great power comes great responsibility. Once students complete one of our courses, it is the beginning of that autonomy in earnest.
